I think the biggest environment-related menstrual problem is the excessive use of single-use plastic products. I think encouraging people to use other alternate period products more safe for the environment is the ultimate solution. While plastic does get disposed properly, it still ends up in landfills, where plastic takes a really long time to degrade.
